Ribery’s son, Handanovic and Pioli among latest UEFA licensed coaches

Franck Ribery, Samir Handanovic and the son of former Milan boss Stefano Pioli are among the graduates of the latest UEFA A coaching licence offered by the FIGC.

The Italian federation published on Wednesday the list of coaches who have obtained the UEFA A license with a grade of merit.

The UEFA A licence is the second highest coaching badge available and, in Italy, allows its holders to manage professional youth teams, any women’s team and any senior men’s team up to Serie C level.

The UEFA Pro licence, required to manage Serie A teams, is the highest level of coaching badge available in Europe.

Among the most recent group of graduates was former Bayern Munich star Ribery, who ended his playing career in Italy with Fiorentina and Salernitana. Former Inter captain Samir Handanovic also qualified. He has been working with Inter’s under-17 side of late.

Former Italy internationals Domenico Criscito and Alessandro Diamanti also graduated from the FIGC’s most recent course, as did former Brescia, Sampdoria and Leeds United left-back Gaetano Berardi.

Gianmarco Pioli, son of former Milan coach Stefano, has also passed away. He already has experience with the Rossoneri as a video analyst during his father’s tenure.

Gianmarco Pioli and Stefano Cassani finished the final exam with the highest possible score, 110 out of 110.
