How Fenerbahce are feeling about signing Antony from Man United ahead of transfer deadline

Antony continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester United even after the English transfer window closed.

It’s been over a week since the English transfer window closed, but Manchester United continue to be linked with both incoming and outgoing players.

The Red Devils have been linked with midfielder Adrien Rabiot, who is yet to find a new club since becoming a free agent this summer.

United’s lack of midfield depth was exposed during their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool, although £42m summer signing Manuel Ugarte has yet to be involved.

In terms of outlay, Antony has been approached about a potential move to Turkey, while Newcastle United expressed interest in a deal in January.

The Turkish transfer window remains open until Friday but fresh reports suggest Antony will remain at Old Trafford.

Turkish Super Lig interest in Antony

Several Turkish clubs have shown interest in signing Antony following his fall down the pecking order under Ten Hag. His only appearance so far this season was a one-minute cameo against Brighton.

Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce are one of the teams who have reportedly shown an interest, with the former United boss apparently keen to try and revitalise Antony’s career, The Sun reports.

However, the Manchester Evening News has revealed Fenerbahce’s stance on Antony’s signing and suggests there will be no late transfer drama.

They claim Fenerbahce have no interest in signing Antony, despite conflicting reports. They add that Mourinho has no interest in bringing Antony to Turkey.

ESPN also claims that Antony has little interest in leaving United and wants to fight for his place, reinforcing the story from last week’s United In Focus.

Man United need to find a solution for Antony

It appears that a late move to Turkey is out of the question for Antony. However, United still need to find a solution for the 24-year-old as it appears that there will be very few first-team opportunities.

He has fallen behind Amad Diallo in the pecking order at Ten Hag, and Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are fierce competition for places on the flanks.

If Newcastle are willing to match United’s £40m asking price for Antony then that would be the best solution for all parties going forward, but a January deal seems unlikely.

If Antony is happy to be an option off the bench then it would be nice to keep him for the World Cup and European competitions, but it is hard to see him becoming a regular starter in the Premier League.

Despite Jadon Sancho leaving for Chelsea on deadline day, United have plenty of quality up front and Ineos are also eyeing a new winger in 2025.
