Chelsea and Celtic prepare for clash at Notre Dame Stadium

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – This is one of the quieter periods on the European soccer calendar as leagues are in their offseason and international competitions are over.

But that doesn’t mean there won’t be any games, as European clubs Chelsea and Celtic will face off in a pre-season friendly (exhibition game) at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

It’s part of a US tour for both clubs, as they play some exhibitions here in North America, and are two of the most prestigious teams in the sport.

Chelsea are from London, England, and have won six Premier League titles in the club’s history. Meanwhile, Celtic are from Glasgow, Scotland, and have won the Scottish Premiership a record 10 times.

US Men’s National Team member Cameron Carter-Vickers plays for Celtic and spoke about what it’s like to play here in the US

“It’s always good to play the best teams you can in pre-season to prepare as best as possible for the season,” said Carter-Vickers. “But a lot of the games out there will be about us preparing and focusing on the way we want to play, and it’s definitely good to test that against the best opposition. We all know we have fans all over the world, so to go to America and see some of our fans out there will be great.”

The match is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. EDT. The game will air on ABC and will also stream on ESPN+.

You can purchase tickets to the game through Ticketmaster. Gates open at 2 p.m. EDT.
