Phil Foden sends message to Man City fans after poor start to season

Man City winger Phil Foden took to social media to send a message to fans after playing a prominent role in the 4-0 Champions League win over Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday (1 October).

The 24-year-old scored his first goal of the season with a superb curling effort after fifteen minutes in the comprehensive victory.

He then turned supplier to fellow Man City academy graduate James McAtee for his fourth goal with a lovely pass.

After the victory over the Slovak team, Pep Guardiola’s team now occupies fourth place in the Champions League stage, with the next round at home against Sparta Prague.

The game against Slovan Bratislava marked Foden’s first start of the season, with the reigning Premier League Player of the Season falling behind Jack Grealish in the pecking order.

Foden has played just 302 minutes in all competitions for City so far this season but will be full of confidence after securing his first two goals on Tuesday.

The England international took to Instagram to show fans how relieved he was to be back scoring goals.

The defending champions return to the Premier League on Saturday (5 October) when they host surprise package Fulham.
