Belfast rap trio Kneecap are attracting worldwide attention for their use of the Irish language mixed with English.

They are the stars of a new semi-fictional film about their formation and rise to prominence.

Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí are the members of the group and for the film they had to dedicate themselves to acting, including six months of classes.

They appear alongside compatriots and leading Irish actors Michael Fassbender and Simone Kirby.

The comedy-drama premiered and won an award at the Sundance Music Festival earlier this year.

It’s run by Rich Peppiatt, who liked the band when he saw one of their raucous shows.

The film premiered and won an award at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The film will be in New Zealand cinemas from October 24, and the trio have also announced that they will be bringing their tour to New Zealand in March next year.
