Thailand’s Thepchaiya Un-Nooh created unwanted history by missing the final black for a maximum break for the third time in his career.

The 39-year-old narrowly missed a tricky cut on black in the second half of the 6-4 victory over China’s Lei Peifan during the International Championship qualifiers in Sheffield.

Un-Nooh lost £44,000 when he lost the last ball in the 2015 UK Championship.

“There was a lot of pressure,” he said at the time.

A year later he fell again in the final in his attempt to break 147, in the World Championship qualifier against Anthony McGill.

This has already given Un-Nooh an unenviable place in snooker history as the only player to have missed the black for an official 147 more than once and, eight years later, he has now extended his record.
