Business of Yorkshire Conference speaker David Skaith hits the ground running

It’s been a whirlwind first few months in the job for York and North Yorkshire mayor David Skaith, one of the key note speakers at The Business of Yorkshire Conference in November.

With little political background, the 38-year-old from Harrogate shot to national acclaim with victory on May 3 to become the region’s first Mayor.

The businessman promised much when he beat the Conservatives into a distant second and, he has been true to his word, prioritizing growth in six key sectors: Industrial biotechnology, agri-tech, manufacturing, creative and digital, rail and healthy aging.

Only last week the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority welcomed a delegation of Chinese officials to the region to outline the opportunities for investment in the agri-tech sector.

A few days earlier, a group of business leaders in the Polish biotech sector visited York, outlining their intention to expand their businesses in the UK.

At The Business of Yorkshire Conference in Leeds on November 28, the mayor will kick off the ‘People Investment’ segment at 11.35am with his keynote address.

He follows from his West Yorkshire counterpart Tracy Brabin, who will head up a stellar list of speakers at Leeds Marriott Hotel.

The one-day conference starts at 9am and concludes with a late afternoon networking session until 5.30pm.

Tickets are available and can be booked here.
