Matteo Guendouzi clearly still has his eye on the Premier League by adopting the goal celebration made famous by Cole Palmer after scoring for Lazio in Serie A on Sunday.

The Frenchman made 82 appearances for Arsenal between 2018 and 2020, initially looking very good but quickly falling out of favor in north London.

He left permanently for Marseille and has since switched to Lazio, where he made 46 appearances in his first season for the club last time out.

The 25-year-old opened his account for this campaign at Torino on Sunday afternoon, in a dramatic game that Lazio ended up winning 3-2.

The former Arsenal player stole a move from a current Chelsea star by producing the ‘cold’ celebration following his eighth-minute goal.

Guendouzi wasn’t the only player to do this on Sunday, as Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers also found the back of the net and rubbed his arms as if he was feeling a chill.

In fact, it was Rogers who first celebrated the goal and Palmer followed suit, as the England international claimed last season.

Explaining his now landmark move, Palmer said last year: ‘My boy Morgs did one for Middlesbrough, so I told him I’d do it too if I scored.’

Rogers was at Manchester City from 2019-23, where he played alongside Palmer.

Palmer showed off the celebration on Saturday as he scored all four goals in Chelsea’s 4-2 victory over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.

That takes his tally to six in six league games so far this season and a remarkable 28 in 39 Premier League appearances since arriving from Manchester City.

Former Arsenal striker Theo Walcott was very impressed with Palmer at Chelsea, comparing him to some iconic figures in the Gunners’ history.

“He’s got a bit of finesse, Bergkamp, Van Persie, and they weren’t bad at all,” Walcott said of Palmer.

‘He grew up at Chelsea and is the main man.’ ‘You can’t leave him out of any team, and I’m talking about England too.

‘He is so talented that he will have that admiration around him, so that players will be afraid of him. If he continues like this, he will be a Premier League legend.
